Periodontal Gum Disease Treatment
Did you know periodontal disease is a major cause of tooth loss in adults?
Periodontal/Gum Disease Treatment Stanhope Gardens
Periodontal disease is an inflammatory disease that attacks the gums, bones and other supporting structures of the teeth. It is the result of plaque (colourless bacteria that forms on teeth). If plaque is not brushed away, gums begin to slip downward away from teeth. This movement creates pockets in between teeth and gums, which eventually fill with plaque and cause deterioration. As the disease gets worse, the bone anchoring the teeth in the jaw is lost, making the teeth loose. If this is not treated, the teeth may eventually fall out.
