Do your teeth suffer from Bruxism or better known as Grinding?
Bruxism is a condition that many people suffer from, it is when you clench your jaw muscles and grind your teeth together during your sleep. Bruxism is an involuntary habit. You may not even know that you are grinding your teeth at night but you may find out from your family or partner. People go through phases in time where grinding may worsen, it is suggested that the cause of this is linked to stress.
How does Bruxism or Grinding affect your teeth?
Grinding causes both the upper and lower teeth to wear against each other this leads to gradual shortening and chipping of the biting surfaces and edges of your teeth. Grinding can not only lead to aesthetic issues, but also problems such as sensitivity, higher risk of decay, headaches, neck and shoulder problems, ringing noise heard in the ears, sleep disturbance, strain and injury to the TMJ joint.
